Protaras lies along a beautiful 9km stretch of coastline, approximately 8 miles to the east of Ayia Napa and is popular with both families and couples who are looking for beautiful beaches, plenty of activities and a fairly lively nightlife, yet nothing like the hustle and bustle of Ayia Napa.
The Protarus weather can reach the 20`s out of season and into the mid 30`s during the summer months, perfect for topping up that suntan on the beach and cooling off in the crystal clear sea. The most popular beaches are Fig tree Bay, on the south side of the centre and Pernera Beach on the north. In between you will find gorgeous sandy coves and rocky inlets of Cape Greco, popular with scuba divers and snorkellers.
Whether you fancy sampling the delicious local cuisine, freshly caught, succulent fish dishes, or international foods, including good old British dinners, Protaras caters for all tastes when it comes to eating. The shops in Protaras sell the usual holiday essentials, although a trip to nearby Paralimni or Ayia Napa will give you a wider choice.
Protaras nightlife, although nothing like Ayia Napa, is fairly lively with British themed pubs offering karaoke nights and skysports TV, and a handful of discos to keep you dancing into the night. If you wish to `dance till dawn` then just head into Ayia Napa.
