To this day it still retains that Turkish feel, relatively small, yet having an array of great restaurants and bars around the harbour. The closest beach is at Calis, which is about 2 miles away, accessible by a water taxi or short dolmus ride. The fabulous, stunning beach and blue lagoon of Olu Deniz is just 7 miles from Fethiye. Weather wise you can expect temperatures in winter from 15°-23° and in the summer months a sunny 25°-36°, perfect for exploring the many beaches and coves close to Fethiye. In the narrow, cobbled streets of the Old Town you can find many shops to hunt for those good, cheap holiday souvenirs and the weekly market is well worth visiting. There are a number of ancient sites in and around Fethiye to prize you away from the nearby beaches and from the harbour front you can hire a `Gulet` (traditional wooden yachts) and visit the offshore islands then on to Olu Deniz where you can try your hand at paragliding, snorkelling, diving, windsurfing and banana boat rides.
