The name Turgutreis comes from a 16th century admiral and over the years it has grown from a small fishing village to a bustling holiday resort, full of excellent restaurants, shops, cafes and bars. The new marina and harbour front are host to a number of fantastic restaurants offering everything from local Turkish cuisine to international dishes, including English meals.
The temperature in Turgutreis can range between 15°-20° in the winter months and a barmy 25°-35° during the summer, perfect for relaxing along the 19km stretch of beach and cooling off in the shallow, gently shelving sea.
In the evening the resort comes alive with plenty of bars and live music venues, as well as a few nightclubs and discos, to keep you partying into the night. The shops are good to pick up a holiday souvenir and every Saturday the market is the place to be to haggle over cheap items such as jewellery, rugs, leather goods and pottery.
The dolmus minibus service is great to hop on and off to get around and there are many day trips and historical excursions to keep you busy.
