Torrox is located just west of Nerja and is split into two parts. The original old town of Torrox which is set 2 miles inland amongst olive groves and mountain vineyards, and the beach at Torrox Costa.
The traditional Andalusian village of Torrox sits on a hillside and combines white washed walls and cobbled streets, with pretty gardens and an active square. Whereas Torrox Costa is based on the 5 mile stretch of sandy beach, awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and a long seafront promenade.
A good selection of bars and restaurants line the promenade, which is excellent for strolling along in the evening to sample the local and international cuisine, and enjoying a few drinks. The local markets and shops offer good cheap holiday souvenirs, such as leather wares, lace, embroidery and ceramics, and nearby you will find some interesting ancient sites and ruins.
