Retamar is situated just to the east of Almeria, where the beach begins a 15 kilometre sweep towards the natural park of Cabo de Gata. Retamar is divided by a road into northern and southern zones. The southern zone, which is closest to the beach, is mostly made up of duplexes and apartments, whilst the northern zone consists mainly of individual chalets with gardens and often their own swimming pools where many people reside all the year round.
The weather in Retamar can reach into the 20`s out of season and up to the 30`s in the summer months, perfect for sunbathing and swimming.
During the fiestas and the celebration of the Pilgramge of Torregarcia in the summer, Retamar flows with holiday makers and Spanish citizens.
