The local name for Samos Town is Vathi and it sits in the north-east of the island, in a crescent shaped bay. The Samos Town holiday season runs from April to October when the temperature can rise from 20° to the early 30`s, perfect for swimming and sunbathing.
Samos Town beach is a small stretch of shingle and pebbles, although sandy beaches can be reached nearby and with Samos Town being the capital of the island it is the liveliest, with tavernas, music venues, discos and bars around the harbour. There is also a good selection of shops and a busy bazaar, where you can find some good cheap holiday souvenirs.
Overlooking the harbour you will find a number of superb restaurants serving local and international cuisine to suit all tastes, as well as delicious, freshly caught fish dishes.
Walking is very popular in Samos, with plenty of coastal walks available from Samos Town.
