On the north coast of Crete, east of Heraklion and just next to the resort of Sissi is Milatos, a tranquil village unspoilt by modern buildings. Couples and families holiday in Milatos for it`s traditional charm and sandy beach with crystal water. The temperature in Milatos can range between 14-21° out of season and 25-30° during the summer months, perfect for topping up your tan whilst lazing the day away on the beach.
There are a number of good tavernas, restaurants and bars in Milatos, serving traditional Greek cuisine and fresh fish dishes, such as `Meze`, a mixed plate of deep fried fish, pickles, olives, stuffed vine leaves and halloumi. The restaurants will cater for most people`s tastes, and you can wash your meal down with a few drinks whilst watching the sun go down. If you are looking for a big night out then head to Malia to party through the night. You can purchase all of those holiday essentials from the handful of mini-markets, souvenir and gift shops, and a trip into Heraklion or Rethymnon gives you the opportunity to shop all day.
