Elounda lies on the east coast of Crete, 6 miles north of Aghios Nikolaos, looking out to the small island of Spinalonga. The lovely stretch of sandy beach is excellent for sunbathing, while the crystal clear water is perfect for swimming and snorkelling, with water sport facilities for the more energetic holiday makers.
The temperature can vary from 14-22° off season and a glorious 26-32° in the summer months, so make sure you pack the sun cream. If you can tear yourself away from the beach then there are a good number of boutiques and shops selling jewellery and handicrafts, a couple of supermarkets for those holiday essentials and a market every Friday morning.

Fresh fish dishes are popular and the traditional Greek cuisine is delicious. In the evening head down to the harbour and enjoy a drink, whilst watching the world go by, in the cafes and tavernas. Then head to the great selection of music bars and sports bars, before ending your night at one of the discos.
There are plenty of boat trips available from the harbour, including Spinalonga Island and the regular bus service can transport you to numerous resorts near Elounda, such as the picturesque village of Plaka.
