The fishing resort of El Medano is on the sunny south coast of Tenerife, having grown into a popular holiday resort and can boast long sandy beaches that are popular with wind surfers, having hosted the world windsurfing championships.
The coastline in El Medano can boast the longest natural beach in all of Tenerife, being 2km in length, with white sand and shallow waters. Behind this you will find the town square and pretty, narrow streets to stroll through, frequenting the bars and cafes. There is also a good selection of restaurants offering local and international cuisine, including fresh fish, Italian, Chinese, French and English foods.
The promenade stretches the length of the long beach in this laid back resort, with the Saturday market full of bargain hunters. El Medano is particularly favoured by intermediate and advanced windsurfers - and advanced kite surfers who can deal with dodging the many windsurfers and the rocks positioned at the end of the bays.
