Located in the south of Tenerife, Costa Del Silencio, which translates as the silent coast, was one of the first purpose built tourist resorts. It does not have a major beach, but is within walking distance of the neighbouring Las Galletas beach, and is also very close to the immensely popular Playa de Las Americas and Los Cristianos. Costa del Silencio does tend to live up to its name and is a lot quieter and more relaxed than other resorts, but still boasts a number of bars, shops and restaurants - just don't go expecting massive dance clubs and all night entertainment.
The temperature rarely falls below 15° in the winter and in the summer it is around 30°. Being on the south coast means that the water temperatures are also warmer which is good for people interested in trying water sports such as diving and snorkelling. There is a bus service to Playa De Las Americas that leaves every 30 minutes if you are looking for a big night out or to go shopping and Costa Del Silencio also has tennis courts, squash courts, mini golf and swimming pools for all of those sports enthusiasts.

Great Day Trips
Great Day Trips

There are a huge number of companies offering boat trips to tourists and these vary from a `booze cruise` on a cruiser offering lunch, drinks and watersports to a trip around the island on a sailing boat or catamaran. One of the main attractions is the chance to see whales and dolphins in the wild.
